Ocean City, Maryland Review

I had the privilege of visiting Ocean City, Maryland July 2025 for the first time without knowing much. When arriving to Ocean City, there were a lot of blue buildings, adding to the beachy aspect. I looked around some more and knew this place was going to be way nicer than expected.

I stayed at Ten Street Condos which had some enjoyable views; it’s not a full beach view, so be aware. There was a great indoor pool with warm water, and it felt so soothing. The room was nice; it was like a mini apartment in a hotel. It had everything you needed to do the basic necessities. There are bunk beds in one room and while the bed felt nice, the ladder was not. I strongly disliked the ladder in the room; it was not easy getting up there. I managed to climb up to the bunk bed, but the climbing experience was not enjoyable. Be careful when coming down, climbing backwards is easier. It’s a decent room to sit back and unwind after a long day.

From seeing the beach, it looked nice from first glance. I went out at dusk to take a walk to discover a full boardwalk. Going to the boardwalk during the evening is nice because it’s not too hot and everything is lit up. There’s everything at the boardwalk where you could spend a whole day exploring, even a small theme park which I didn’t know until a few days before arriving.

The sunrises in Maryland were really nice as well. If you’re an early bird, definitely watch the sunrise; it was great. Somehow the sunsets were even nicer; there was a rainbow like sunset when the sun went down. Looking out at night is also a great sight with the buildings partially lit up.

Sea Rocket has a dolphin excursion where you go out on a boat. We didn’t get to see dolphins which I anticipated, but it would’ve been cool if we did. If possible, try to go on a clear day to have a better chance to see dolphins. The ride coming back from the boat was rainy, and going against the wind made it feel like hell. I know there’s nothing you can do, but this is another reason to go during a clearer day. Check the weather before you book the excursion! Also note if you want a life jacket for extra safety, they won’t give it to you unless it’s an emergency.

The boat ride was nice overall; it was a tad more aggressive than other boat rides. The boat wasn’t rough; there was more of a bounce on the boat. If needed, bring motion sickness patches to help motion sickness. I didn’t need them knowing I don’t deal with motion sickness.

After two days, I realized it’s a walk to see everything at the Boardwalk. Be ready to get your steps in, but it’s so worth it. I’m so glad I took the time to look around the boardwalk and see it all. There were a lot of stores around the boardwalk with nice souvenirs for everyone, including pressed pennies, postcards, T-shirts, and much more. I got to play some arcade games at the Boardwalk, which was really fun and the prizes were much better, not super cheesy. There was an ice cream place called Kohr Bros, and I got an amazing orange creamsicle swirl. If you can’t tell already, I highly recommend the boardwalk!

The beach was pretty pleasant for swimming. I also liked the views from the beach. There wasn’t an overwhelming amount of people nor creatures in the sand. If you’re nervous about the ocean you can always have a float to help, but I didn’t find the water that rough. In my experience going to the beach, this was the calmest water.

I got to try Angler’s, and it was pretty good. There were drinks to start out with, which I had a strawberry and an orange creamsicle slush, both non-alcoholic. The strawberry drink tasted pretty good and the whipped cream was very sweet. Be warned the orange drink did not taste like a creamsicle, it tasted like orange juice. The orange drink tasted fine; they should label it better. Knowing Maryland is known for crabs, I had to try their crab cakes, and these did not disappoint. There was even a crab dip which was also really good; it had a tiny kick though. The Crème Brûlée was pretty good; it was light and creamy. The brownie sundae was okay; I found the brownie a little dry. I don’t recommend sitting outdoors if it’s hot because it’s brutal. There was an amazing water view with a lovely sunset.

Even though the beach isn’t my favorite thing, I still really enjoyed this place. The summer will bring in the most crowds, but it wasn’t overly crowded. Be warned that the summer can get quite hot, but there’s plenty of ways to cool down. I would love to go back to Maryland in the fall when it’s cooler. While in Maryland, I noticed their state flag was displayed everywhere; they are very proud of their state, as they should be!
